GREENBRAE, CA, APRIL 1, 2024 – As part of continuing efforts to provide patients with the latest medical technology, MarinHealth has added the Medtronic O-arm™ Mobile Surgical Imaging system to enhance surgical precision in cranial, spine, and trauma-related surgeries.
The O-arm Surgical System uses 2D and 3D technology to offer a 360-degree scan of the patient’s anatomy without moving the patient. Once the ultra-clear images are captured, they are reconstructed into a 3D model, providing surgeons with precise and detailed anatomical information in real-time.
“At MarinHealth, we believe surgeons should have every possible advantage to ensure successful patient outcomes. That’s why we’re proud to have the next-generation technology that captures highly detailed, real-time 3D images during surgery,” commented David Klein, MD, CEO at MarinHealth.
“The O-arm provides our spine surgeons with a more accurate visualization of the patient’s anatomy, enabling the surgeon to make better decisions during the surgery. This reduces the risk of complications and ensures better outcomes for patients. It also decreases radiation exposure for our operating team,” said spine surgeon Brian Su, MD, co-medical director of spine services at MarinHealth Medical Center.
The O-arm Surgical System at MarinHealth Medical Center was made possible by the MarinHealth Foundation, which raised more than $740,000 of the approximate $1,200,000 needed to purchase the O-arm Surgical Imaging System technology.
