GREENBRAE, CA – MARCH 25, 2025—Marin Healthcare District proudly hosted a “Careers in Medicine” day at MarinHealth Medical Center, welcoming students from high schools across Marin County for a unique, hands-on introduction to the many rewarding careers in healthcare.
The event provided students with the opportunity to explore a wide range of healthcare professions—from frontline roles like medical assistants and registered nurses to specialized careers in radiation technology, trauma and spine surgery, and even hospital leadership. Students heard directly from professionals working in these roles, gaining insight into the day-to-day realities of the work, the education and training paths required, and the personal journeys that led each speaker to their current role.
In addition to career panels and interactive sessions, students were able to meet with representatives from local educational institutions, including Dominican University of California and College of Marin, to learn more about academic programs aligned with their career interests.
“This event was all about opening doors for young people and showing them the many pathways that exist in medicine and healthcare,” said Edward Alfrey, MD, Trauma Surgeon and Chair of the Marin Healthcare District. “Whether their interests lie in direct patient care, technology, or leadership, we wanted students to leave with a better understanding of what’s possible—and how to get there.”
The Marin Healthcare District extends its deepest gratitude to the Marin County Board of Education, whose partnership was instrumental in coordinating and promoting the event to local schools.
“Careers in Medicine” Day is part of Marin Healthcare District’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and workforce development, inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals in Marin County.
